Six practical directions for enterprise AI in 2026
PwC’s predictions focus on agents, workforce redesign, responsible AI, orchestration and outcome measurement.
PwC’s 2026 business predictions describe AI agents moving from assistants toward participants in end-to-end workflows. That shift requires explicit responsibility: which work an agent owns, where people and agents collaborate, and who accepts the final outcome.
From technology to work design
Most value comes from redesigning work rather than purchasing technology alone. Hard outcome measures, a step-by-step process map and oversight roles should be defined before scale. Responsible AI also has to become operational through testing, monitoring, risk tiers and protocols for human intervention.
As environments become multi-agent, an orchestration layer becomes more important for performance visibility, multi-vendor tool management and fast rollback after failure. A practical starting point is one valuable workflow: document responsibility boundaries and measure value, cost and risk together. This creates a repeatable management pattern rather than another collection of disconnected pilots.
